1:08 p.m., Sunday the 27th

We voted on Friday (New Mexico has early voting). I'm quite sure all three of us voted for Harris/Walz. Now we wait (on tenterhooks). We ate out after voting, but the restaurant we went to was mostly a disappointment and I don't think we'll be going there again. Today, we all went with Sam to visit various thrift stores, also we stopped at a couple of places to eat, and that was mighty fine. It was mighty dandy. I suppose we'll stay home today. One can't have everything.

4:49 p.m., Monday the 28th

We had various odds and ends for dinner last night. Snowbunny made me three microwave burritos. Brother-Husband had pasta and shrimp, I think. Snowbunny just had shrimp, and maybe a vegetable. After dinner, the three of us watched a Breaking Bad episode. That's all I have to tell you for the moment.

4:10 p.m., Tuesday the 29th

SB came down with a head cold yesterday, so did not make dinner, we had takeout instead (I think from Hanmi, a nearby Chinese/Korean fusion place, via DoorDash). She was talking about making dinner today, but I don't know how she's doing health-wise, she still seems to be sniffing and coughing a little. It all started on Sunday when she thought it was just allergies, but then it worsened enough yesterday to qualify as a head cold.

3:37 p.m., Wednesday the 30th

BH helped make dinner last night. We had a dish that featured crumbled hamburger, noodles, cabbage, and onion. SB was talking about making dinner today, but I don't know, she's still fighting this illness. My immune system is usually pretty tough; hopefully BH won't catch what she has.

2:09 p.m., Thursday the 31st

BH helped with dinner again. We had chicken, black beans, and guacamole salad which BH made. Tonight we are just having canned soup. BH is having Italian wedding soup, I am having Campbell's Chunky vegetable beef. Not sure what SB will have (with her diet).

1:43 p.m., Saturday the 2nd

I've been racking my brain trying to remember what we had for dinner last night. No luck. I guess it must have been not very exciting. After dinner BH and I watched the final episode of Umbrella Academy.

2:07 p.m., Sunday the 3rd

I remember dinner last night, it was honey-mustard chicken with a side of lemony green beans. SB thought they were "too lemony," and probably won't make them again. But I thought they were fine. And the chicken was good. After dinner we watched two Breaking Bad episodes, and a documentary opposed to the Christian right (I forget the name of the documentary).

12:59 p.m., Monday the 4th

For dinner last night SB made us salads. Lettuce, chicken, beets, craisins, and feta cheese. It was pretty good (for a salad). After dinner we watched a Breaking Bad episode. Today, SB's sister (who currently lives in Germany -- call her Jill) will visit us, along with her friend (FWB I suspect -- call him Mike). She'll probably get here at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. ... We'll eat out at Mario's. Something to do, should be fun, I look forward to it.

4:11 p.m., Tuesday the 5th

Dinner was good, I had a Reuben sandwich, a salad with blue cheese dressing, and a *huge* slice of carrot cake for dessert. After dinner, we went and took the tram to Sandia Crest and back. It was a nice thing to do, although it was really cold (with snow) and the Crest was covered with clouds. BH didn't go, he was spooked by the time (a year or two ago I think) when the tram got stuck for like 24 hours.

4:13 p.m., Wednesday the 6th

I am not surprised by the outcome of the election, but I am disappointed and angry. I'm mad at all the swing voters who chose Donald Trump. I'm mad at the elitists who refused to vote for Kamala Harris because she wasn't perfect enough. I'm disappointed in all those who would have voted for Harris if they would have bothered to vote at all. The simple fact is that Harris and Walz didn't get adequate support. Now we're going to get Trump and Vance for four years. I hope all those who helped make that happen are pleased about it.

It's not just the Presidential situation that bothers me, it's the fact that there are so many Republicans in Congress, especially Republican hard-liners who never compromise. Who keeps electing (and reelecting) them -- and why? I feel like the United States is becoming an increasingly Republican country -- at least that's the trend right now. Where are all the young people that are supposed to have a more progressive view on things? Well, I didn't feel much like talking about all of this, but I guess I wanted to say my piece and then shut up.

Yes, it was a travesty. I have daughters and granddaughters, and it kills me to see their rights stripped away.

Where are all the young people that are supposed to have a more progressive view on things?

They are leaving the party in droves... Maybe we need to start listening to their struggles and needs.

1:37 p.m., Thursday the 7th

I take it you know what some of these struggles and needs are. Feel free to share.

It was definitely a travesty. And you should hear how much the Trump supporters are rejoicing. They believe they have won their freedom.

I’m not in that demographic myself, but I think many are frustrated with the status quo and are concerned about affording the quality of life they were raised to expect.

I’m sure Trump supporters are celebrating like never before. I mean, they got Trump re-elected - holy shit! Let that sink in...

I feel that the young people that voted for Trump are shooting themselves in the foot. I don't trust that Trump will improve the economy for them (in such a way as to put the quality of life they want within reach). I'm a little worried about what Trump will do with this new burst of power. But as I said, it's not just Trump, it's also the glut of hard-line Republicans in Congress. And obviously the hard-line right-wing Supreme Court is another huge problem. The only people these things benefit are the super rich and the righteous right-wing zealots who are offended by things like abortion and gay marriage.

Until 2024, no sitting or former U.S. president had ever been indicted for a criminal offense. This anomaly, however, is not due to a lack of misconduct or unethical behavior within the political elite across both major parties. The Democratic Party, in particular, has taken unprecedented steps to weaponize the legal system against its political adversaries, most prominently through the prosecution of Donald Trump. Even for those who do not subscribe to the theory of politically motivated charges, the evidence of the party’s efforts to manipulate the political process is undeniable, ranging from the undermining of Bernie Sanders’ candidacy in 2016 to the orchestrated installation of Harris as the party’s nominee in 2024, a move without parallel in modern American history.

What does such a level of systemic corruption signal to the members of the Democratic Party? In response to mounting scrutiny, they have resorted to labeling their critics as misogynists, racists, or worse, merely for holding divergent viewpoints. They have spent so much time within ideological echo chambers that they have failed to recognize, for example, that 35 percent of American women hold pro-life positions. This disconnect from the broader electorate underscores the party’s increasing estrangement from reality.

A significant portion of the American public, across nearly every demographic, has turned away from the party in unprecedented numbers. Envision, if you will, a scenario in which Donald Trump not only wins the popular vote but does so by a wide margin. This is the political landscape the Democrats have fostered through their brand of elitism, coercion, and manipulative tactics. The electorate has spoken, and it has done so loudly, expressing discontent with an establishment that no longer reflects their values or priorities.

The Republican Party survives only because those who actually believed in its values have quietly exited, leaving behind those willing to compromise their morals for a leader who doesn’t reflect their beliefs at all.

The Democratic Party has its flaws, but it still remembers its core principles. That’s more than I can say for the GOP!

10:52 a.m., Saturday the 9th

Thank you Inaniel, you took the words out of my mouth.

11:32 a.m., Sunday the 10th

We basically just had canned soup for dinner last night (I had Campbell's Chunky Bean/Ham, with oyster crackers). After dinner we watched two Breaking Bad episodes. I don't know what we'll do tonight.
