Polyamory

I am wondering if this is normal. It seems that I have to choose between some of my friends and being poly. I have had many old friends over the years, and newer, very close friends that I hate to lose. But I have already had two say that they cannot be my friend if I am poly. I feel like I have to keep it a secret or I will lose more friends. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?
