    Compersion: Merged Threads, General Discussion

Compersion is not an issue for me. Earlier in life it may have been, but at this stage whatever pleases my spouse is fine with me. But then again, I'm more easily the poly one in the house! My mono wife was unaware of the word and it's meaning til I recently gave her info on it. A book is also...

Aquiring is as good in IMO.......desire is the appetizer, aquire the main course and long term happiness the dessert......so happy for you that compersion has fallen into your lap....we are still working toward that. Hopefully it arrives soon!

    Long Term Poly Relationship Goals?

SK, even though we three are not yet "all in" on the same page with the "V", I can tell you living under the same roof with the two women you want to share the rest of your life with is something very special.

    Polyamory, commitment, and emotional investment

SK, you are so right. They are two entirely different things. Neither is wrong or right, they are just different and work for different people. But, I'm with you on this in my def of poly.

    How "out" are you?

Mono, that's wonderful news. Sounds very refreshing to be so open with everyone you know. Hope we get there someday.

    Confused... love, not just sex

Mythical, I'm so sorry one guy had to ruin it for the rest of us. It is better you found out now though, before you invested any more time and emotion with him. Just so you know, it's usually guys who are childish, insecure and closed-minded who react the way he did. He probably wasn't prepared...

    Looking for advice (triads, communication)

Any communication will help. You have to communicate with each other for this to have any prayer of it working, long term. Without it, every relationship will end up short term, or not being anywhere near what it could be. Mono, thanks for the link on the book. I ordered a copy. There's gotta...

    Polyamory, commitment, and emotional investment

Life changes and for me we change. Aging and circumstances have led myself to move in a poly direction with my wife of 27 years and our best friend, another woman. For me it cannot be platonic, although in my younger years, I was the platonic male friend to many women. For my definition, I do...

    Confused... love, not just sex

It's always scary to reveal yourself and and hope your spouse or new love can understand. You must move forward though, if you truly want to give this poly life a go. Talk, talk and talk with both Dylan and Alex. You might be surprised at the lengths people will go to for a strong loving...

    A little help please (triad)

Destiny, I think maybe the kicker was she had two kids. She probably didn't or couldn't come to grips with how to deal with this situation and her kids. I know it's made it immensely easier for us three with all our kids grown and headed off to college. It just removes a huge hurdle.

    A little help please (triad)

DestinyWaits, Quath and Vandalin have presented good views on this subject. Another I may offer is that things may not always be what they appear to be. I hate to question anyone's motives, but perhaps she was not the person you and your husband thought she was or were in love with. Maybe...

What I think I want from polyamory (as an asexual person)

Semantics here. My comment about being bipolar was directed at XYZ123, not you Stargazer. Please read all through the posts. If it wasn't clear, I'm sorry. And it makes no difference if you have lucid periods, or are in remission of your bipolar-ness, you are still bipolar and have a mental...

What I think I want from polyamory (as an asexual person)

You answered your own question. You have a mental illness. You are bipolar, thus the reason for your "asexuality," due to no desire to have sex. It doesn't mean it's wrong to be asexual, it's just you have a definitely reason why you are. I rest my case.

What I think I want from polyamory (as an asexual person)

YGirl, you confirmed my hypothesis. Thank you. And sorry to hear about your other guy. I hope you can or have been able to help him work through some of his issues. Keep lovin'.
