The difference between love and friendship.

Interesting point. I frequently think that our society is touch starved, myself included. In such a society, the mere act of touching someone may get them to read into things or at the very least awaken sexual desire. There is another point as well- where is the line between a "normal" touch and...

What's Wrong with Monogamy, a True Story

Agreed. I believe that people do what they do in order to maximize happiness and/or to minimize unhappiness, and if someone believes that lying will serve this goal better then being honest, then that's what they'll do.

    "The Christian Marriage"

Some have tried; the numbers are pretty large. That being said, I think that humanity as a whole is better off with christianity then without it. I think people don't stop to consider what we'd have had if christianity hadn't become the predominant world religion. Its main competition (Islam)...

The difference between love and friendship.

I think I work that way as well. I agree that just because you have a close relationship with someone doesn't mean it has to be a romantic relationship. I don't think that StarTeddy meant this either; she did say that her feelings of attraction didn't have to be reciprocal.

    "The Christian Marriage"

Tried, didn't find those numbers. Could you give me the google terms you used? Definitely. There's also the fact that stories tend to change over time; the further down the line, the more distortion inherent. I personally feel that the Zeitgeist movie, especially when seen in conjunction with...

Unitarian Universalists for Polyamory Awareness (UUPA)

I must admit that I've heard a fair amount of good things about UU. Not sure it'd ever be a religion I'd want to join, but their tolerance levels regarding different belief sets is phenomenal when compared to other religions it seems. And this bit about them having a poly and pagan wings sounds...

    "The Christian Marriage"

I'll take your word for it... Could it not be that it's simply how he sees christianity? I'm not saying that he's necessarily right on all counts, but I don't think that assuming that what he wrote is based solely on his disposition towards christianity is the best course of action...

    "The Christian Marriage"

Here's an interesting article regarding christian marriage. It may not be completely accurate in some respects, but I thought it was definitely very educational... Captive Virgins, Polygamy, Sex Slaves: What Marriage Would Look Like if We Actually Followed the Bible

The difference between love and friendship.

Ok :-) Ok. I think that in mainstream society, cuddling is generally reserved for sexual relationships, but I also think that it occupies something of a grey zone, which is why there are such things as cuddle parties. Out of curiosity, am curious whether the avatar in your pic comes from an...

I see. I'm not sure what the difference is between your feelings for him and regular friend feelings. I personally don't see anything inpure with wanting someone sexually; to me, it's this sexual desire which makes the difference.

The difference between love and friendship.

I agree that love doesn't equal romance, but some people (such as myself and, apparently, StarTeddy) do tend to start feeling romantic with their close friends of the opposite gender. I don't think that this means that we'll get frustrated with our lover and not have anyone to vent to. In all...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

This morning, I tweeted Maggie, telling her about my thread here and if she had any advice as to how to proceed. She brought up a post of hers concerning her work with couples: http://t.co/t7BRLuSi As well as a post on swinging (or wife swapping, as she likes to call it) in general, and its...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

I never said otherwise. I simply agreed with your statement that "woman aren't generally inclined to pay for it", which is why I brought up supply and demand. What gave you the impression that I didn't want to count all sex workers? I agree that I haven't met many sex workers. That being...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

Who said that? Maggie was speaking about women, not men. That being said, I do think that females use it more then men. I think men use other methods more, but I'm the first to admit that I don't have any hard data on this. I did find the following article in Forbes though: Women Who Ask Do Get...
