The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

A good question. As I mentioned in my previous post, I don't think that was the best way of putting it... Another good question, laugh :-). He seems to be lecturing at Yale, quite possibly a Yale professor judging by his anecdotes concerning Yale students.

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

Response to post #11, Part 2 (last part) Ok. I'm curious, why did you ask me if I had a partner? Mm. Well, I think the best argument against prostitution is the idea that it's not about love, simply about sex. I think, however, that it's a false argument, for reasons outlined in the paper in...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

Response to Post#11, Part 1 I only saw the first 3 minutes of that (gruesome stuff), I think I get the picture. But Sex at Dawn doesn't argue that we've evolved (or rather devolved) into some rather brutal practices at times; he's saying that in hunter gatherer tribal societies, it didn't work...

Seems like you really didn't like them, laugh :-). So you think the first 3 were much better?

He seems to be quite the popular author here, heh :-). I really liked her "Powers that Be". I've also read some of the Crystal Universe, which I found to be pretty good. Looking through her entry on wikipedia, I just found out that she died recently, so like Frank Herbert, there's now a set...

Lol :-) Hadn't heard of the urban fantasy category before, but after looking at its definition in wikipedia, I think that Gibson and Neal Stephenson's work would qualify. I only read 2 of his books: Stranger in a Strange Land and Glory Road. Having been in the Poly Community for about a...

Didn't read Good Omens, but I absolutely loved Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" book.. just awesome :-). I liked Stephen King's Bachman books, but have never really been into scary stuff, so that's as far as I went, heh :-). I've read the first book of George R.R. Martin's "Tale of Ice and Fire"...

Seeing as how people have liked my favourite movies/animes threads, and one of the those threads (movie thread I think) was actually briefly hijacked to talk about books :-p, I thought I'd add a favourite book thread.... I recently just finished Sex at Dawn, a book that I see has been...

I have yet to see any of those, laugh :-). I think I've heard good things of Lodoss and Samurai 7 though.. one of these days :-)

I see, laugh :-) Cool. Ok. Kind of like Bleach; I've watched pretty much all of it, (haven't seen the last episode or 2, I'll get to it soon); the first 200 can be found dubbed, the rest are subbed. Ok. Ok. I'm finishing off Rozen Maiden. It is pretty silly, I admit, but I kinda got...

I heard of Timothy Zahn's books.. actually, I believe my friend (Evan, he's the one who doesn't like the new Star Wars movies) was telling me to read his books.. and I said I would, one of these days, laugh :-p. You sound like you know what you're talking about with all of this stuff, so I'll...

Ah well, poetic license I say, laugh :-). Also, as RunicWolf said: "Lucas tossed 90% of the EU and did what he wanted with the movies, as is his right." In an ideal universe, only Timothy Zahn quality writers would have written the books and Lucas would have followed them faithfully, but I'm...

I have a friend who feels the new ones don't compare to the old ones, sounds like where you're coming from, heh :-) I don't know, I liked it the way they did it. And they do have that more in the animated Clone Wars I think. Movies can only be so long though; I think it was better to focus...

Star Wars FTW (For The Win), laugh :-). When I was younger, Star Wars was my favourite movie series. Even now, I really like them, especially the last 3 (with Anakin's transformation to Vader being my favourite). I've seen snippets of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but never really got into it...

Evangelion was the first anime series I ever saw, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. It reminds me most of Rah Xephon, which I liked better, but it was different as well. I think that both Rah Xephon and Evangelion could be seen as stories that include World War II and its...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

I admit that I hadn't heard of her theory (not to mention this theory that we lived in some kind of waterworld in the pleistocene, unless perhaps we're speaking of the legend of Noah's arc and similar legends? I don't discount this legend out of hand, just wondering as to the source of her...

The crossover between Polyamory, Swinging and Sex work

Very interesting points. An article in the blog of an ex sex worker said something quite similar: marriage v prostitution..good girl-bad girl! I've heard something similar from a sex worker; that 80% of clients are cheating on someone. This is a field where anecdotal evidence is king, so few...
