Last weekend my girlfriend proposed to her partner of 8 years (he is also in a newly developing relationship with me). I am totally thrilled for them... but I found it really tricky to share my excitement with the majority of my friends (those that know of my relationships thought it so odd that I was so genuinely happy for them).
Since none of us are totally out to all family and friends as Poly, even when they posted their news on FB, I had to be content with a "congratulations, so happy for you both" type comment lost in the myriad of other comments.
But I wrote my real feelings to share with them the next day (as all they wanted was to celebrate with me and all our kids together). I wanted to share what I wrote here, as here are you awesome people who could understand and possibly even celebrate the excitement with me (shared with their permission):

Today, 2 September 2016, my beloved is proposing to the man who loves her. I know he loves me too and I'm quite sure that I love him as well. ❤
I have helped her plan and sort all the details. I'm hanging out today with their darling child so that they can have this day to make memories together.
He does not know. And I know he will be overwhelmed with the fierceness of her love and commitment shown by this gesture. I suspect he has loved her so deeply for so long and that he has been possibly a bit hesitant in showing the full extent of that. I I know that they have worked and grown individually and together over years to be where they are now.
So the significance of her honouring their union in this magical way is big. She had beautiful rings made by a friend who cares for them both. She has chosen to immerse into nature. .. walking with elephants.... where she will pledge her commitment and connection to him.
I love how they are together. I love them separately and I adore them together. I love how we three are together and how all our connections grow stronger each time one bond is strengthened.
This purposeful poly is strong. It's life changing... in all the best ways. This path of connectedness is authentic and inspirational and THEIR love inspires me constantly.
I cannot wait to join them tomorrow with all our little ones as we celebrate in the African sun of spring together. I look forward to hearing all about their adventure today... later.... when they have had these special private moments to look deeply into each other's eyes and see the reflection of total love, respect and honouring that is so evident to me as I watch them together and hear them speak of each other to me.
Life is incredible... filled with love that lifts and strengthens and brings beauty to us. If we but chose to allow it to nestle down into our hearts and there build bridges and gateways to the dimensions of the other open souls that wish to share all of the incredible adventures of life with us.
And I'm so freaking happy for them I'm dancing around with an achyface type grin and my heart melting in my chest.
