Hi from Manchester UK! So about 6 weeks ago I met a truly wonderful and amazing soul, we fell in love and began a relationship. She has been poly on and off for most of her life and was clear this was the kind of relationship that met her needs. I had been interested in polyamory for some time and was beginning to think that it may well be the right choice for me, or at least something to try, but I hadn't really thought about the changes it may bring for me in any great depth.
I am finding a lot of stuff to process and tend to swing from being really happy for the connections she has with people in her life to being swamped by feelings of loss and hurt. We have good communication but I do find it very hard at times - a lifetime of being and thinking monogamous then just 6 weeks to process that my soulmate is now dating and being physically intimate with other people. But I want these changes in my life and am open to dealing with any feelings that come up.
So that's where I'm at. It's good to read posts on here and see that actually it is very common to have difficult feelings and insecurities come up in poly relationships, even for people who have been living and loving this way for years. And really I have totally jumped in at the deep end. So that helps.
I'm looking forward to sharing experiences with other people on here. Glad to meet you all
