I had been browsing the internet today and started looking at some "poly-support" type sites, which led me here! The forum seems fairly active and interesting so I thought I would go out in a limb and introduce myself.
I feel like it is going out on a limb because my family isn't exactly "out" to the public. Sort of. We are "out" as polygamists, with my two wives living side-by-side, and that has gotten us enough rejection from friends and family as it is. We have a big family and aren't shy about the two moms in it, but as far as anyone knows that is the extent of our weirdness.
But unbeknownst to the world, we are quite free and open behind closed doors. It wasn't always like that, but honestly when things changed it was a good thing. Jealousy can be a very difficult thing to overcome in polygamy, and my physical relationship with each wife was something that was very difficult for each of them. We obviously still deal with jealousy when it comes up, but it was coming to a new place of "openness" in the bedroom that really took the edge off of those emotions. It made what was formerly a tense subject in the relationships into a fun shared experience, and a comfortable subject even when it's not a shared experience.
But as I said, we are not "out". I guess our families had enough difficulty accepting the polygamy. If they knew how our relationship really worked, some of them might have aneurisms. But we are generally happy, and no one feels like a secret, we just keep our closed doors activities to ourself.
I'm not a super-active forum user, so I wouldn't expect that to change. But I just wanted to raise my hand and be counted I guess! And I know it's helpful for people to see that others out there are having similar experiences and can commiserate.
