Hello there :)

Well, hello everyone!
This is my first time on a poly forum. I think I ended up here looking for some support on this really difficult-to-deal-with-in-this-society romantic life.
I know I've been poly since I can remember, even tho I didn't know there was a name for it until I was like 20 or so. I always dealt with my relationships in an open relationship style, starting at 13 y/o.
As many of you probably know, being poly is not a bed of roses. You fall in love with who you fall in love and you can't really choose not to, so I've fallen in love with several monogamous people, which sucks.
I used to be really open about my way of loving but, after having my heart broken many many times for "hurting people" for being who I was, I decided I didn't want to be that anymore (I know, really counterproductive) and I tried monogamy and I tried it hard.
But now I'm naturally on my track again and I decided to thrive for what makes me happy and for who I am truly. So I expect to be around here, sharing and learning with all of you for a while!
We are a community that need a lot of understanding and support, so lets give it to each other :)

Hi Annna - and welcome to the Forum! We will look forward to hearing more of your story. We have a fairly active forum with a good number of experienced poly folks who participate regularly - so please do feel free to share any specific thoughts and questions that you may have. Best of luck on your continuing journey. Al

Greetings Annna,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I have read your other thread, and responded there briefly. To summarize, I think you will be the happiest if you tell people (right from the start) that you are polyamorous. Sure you will have fewer monogamous people who will want to be with you, but the few that do will be accepting you for who you are. Mono/poly relationships do exist. Plus you may find some poly people you can be with, that is always a possibility. With rare exceptions, honesty really is the best policy.

I am glad you could join Polyamory.com, I hope you will enjoy your stay here, and that you will find the site helpful. You can get a lot of advice, from many diverse viewpoints. Welcome!

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)
