hi, i have been in a relationship with my soon to be wife for nearly 6 years now. i didn't know poly was a thing until she pointed it out to me and said i fit the description. after some time thinking and lots of talking and her approval i have decided i would like to try and date someone but i have no idea how to approach them about poly. any advice?

Greetings SDP,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I suppose you tell them, "I am polyamorous. I hope that's okay?" or, "I'm nonmonogamous. I hope that's okay."

If you have an OKCupid profile, you can let people know you're poly right on your profile. Once the conversation has started, you just need to be ready to answer questions. To that end, I suggest reading a lot of the posts here, and posting any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

There's a *lot* of good info in Golden Nuggets. Have a look!

Please read through the guidelines if you haven't already.

Note: You needn't read every reply to your posts, especially if someone posts in a disagreeable way. Given the size and scope of the site it's hard not to run into the occasional disagreeable person. Please contact the mods if you do (or if you see any spam), and you can block the person if you want.

If you have any questions about the board itself, please private-message a mod and they'll do their best to help.

Welcome aboard!

i did have one question. i know of okcupid and plentyoffish. but is there a more poly friendly dating site out there?

Hi SDP,

There's a new-ish site called OpenMinded that is specifically for people interested in various types of open relationships, but it's a small pool as of now. OKCupid is by far the most used by poly people looking to date and has been much discussed here in the forum.

Welcome
