Poly IS a Science

Hello everyone

So I don't post a lot but have belonged awhile. I so love the knowledge and love that is always on Here for the love of Poly. Lolol. Going through a serious hurtful breakup I decided to let go and was journaling about the factors for success in relationships when I thought this up. I thought I'd share it. It may not be true but I see it that way. Just wanted to post it for some therapy. Peace everyone and thank you too members who have so much compassion and knowledge here.


Poly IS a Science!

I'm convinced, polyamory IS a science! It has factors, equations, hypotheticals,, determing factors and standard operating procedures. It even has structures like double helix structures, (I love the polystrucure tshirts)

The fact is, it's a structure that is amazingly harmonious when all elements of the equation are involved. I'm a firm believer in it no doubt. Even after painful bunson burner injuries, and like any scientist...you learn from your failures.

As a poly scientist, one who lives poly, you use your intuition and by knowing certain key elements might be missing like contiencious behavior or respect for all you fairly know you can predict failure.

You stay open to factors that aren't condusive to growth for all the organic properties. When you take a look inward and evaluate your motivations, intuition, openness and the other conditions and stay open to change, you can get a pretty awesome glow from all parties involved.

It's s a dangerous science. When certain elements are mixed or missing or standard procedures are skipped, (like transparency and respect for all parties), that chemical reaction is going to hurt someone. When one refuses to put in one element it can be poly implosion. If needs are not met or respected or even the science itself is not respected...run for the Poly hill community for comfort. (Their a life savor)

There's nothing worse than bad science. Especially when the clincians at hand know what elements are needed and still decide to skip that step...if that's the case, watch out for your bunsun burner. It will will burn your ass
Listen to the teachers, your bunson burners are NOT TOYS..their real people with real emotions..respect them. If you get burned..it can catche all the other relationships involved..on fire.

If you respect all the element involved and slowly patiently add them, the chemistry is amazing. Respecting poly structure, for example. Even relationship anarchists have to realize all relationships effect other relationships, even ifts not recognized as a relationship.

You can't deny science. Everyone knows you dont fuck with science. Like all scientist, poly scientists, (poly people) success comes from mistakes or comes AFTER mistakes. Solid success draws more attention to the science and is recognized And respected and when poly structure, just like the discovery of DNA, it becomes a respected foundaton of the community. I trully believe in the firm sucess in poly Science. Don't fuck with it. I love Science!

Ah, poly as a science. I would have thought of it would be classified as one of the humanities if anyting. Leaning more towards an abstract, formula based approach with predictive logic and testable hypotheses could be fun.

I'm currently having trouble gathering enough data to test my hypotheses. My instruments of communication aren't as accurate as I'd like them to be. Having trouble discernig signal from noise so I'll have to be patient before enough meaningul observations are in to start interpreting my results.

If one is going to look at poly this way, I would say that any relationship is a science. There really is no difference between polyamory and monogamy when it comes to the factors that make any relationship successful and satisfying. I hate when people put polyamory on a pedestal. It's just one approach to relating and as long as one is awake, alive, and questioning, all of our relationships will teach us vitally important lessons about ourselves and the world.

I think that realamore means "science" in an artistic sense, and/or in a metaphoric sense. Having said that, I had to squirm a little because science is much too rigorous to be defined by what sounds good. But I suppose you could just say, "Well that's true about poly too!" to which I'd say, I guess in an artistic or metaphorical sense it is. And music can be observed by science too, but only in terms of how sound travels and registers. We don't have enough information, for instance, about why major/minor chords affect us differently on an emotional level, to properly call music a science. That doesn't mean scientists can't enjoy and appreciate music, of course.
