Hey from Scotland

Hey.
I'm 23 and from Scotland.

I discovered polyamory about 8 months ago and it's really opened my eyes/changed my life. I'm just recently told friends and family about it to and most of them have been supportive.... some not so much but oh well.

Just wanted to say hi and possibly talk to/make friends with like minded individuals because even though the people in my life are supportive it would be nice to have people who are similar to speak to.

Welcome to the forums. I hope that you find what you're looking for.

FWIW - I'm looking forward to my first visit to Scotland next Summer, as it is where my ancestors came from. I was curious if kilts are common or mostly ceremonial - guessing the latter?

They are mainly ceremonial: funerals, weddings. However some people wear them during Scottish sport games. Scotland were playing last week and there were tons of people cutting around in kilts. I've also seen it common for kilts to be worn on a "lads" pub crawl. However if someone just wanted to wear it for the sakes of wearing one I don't think anyone would bat an eye. However if you wear one expect strangers to ask "are you being a true Scotsman" which if you don't know, means are you completely naked under your kilt.

That's about what I thought.

You raise another question though. I recently saw Simon Pegg's film "World's End" and wonder if the (early) pubs shown are reflective of what one finds in UK pub's? Also would a dozen pubs in a one mile strip be a lot for a UK (non-college) town?

We may have to try a few UK pubs.

Greetings Poptartical,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I'm thinking we have a handful of very active members from Scotland. Kind of cool.

I think you'll be able to make friends here. For sure there's a lot of like-minded individuals.

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

I think it's different. I mean I've never really ventured out my city and my city has TONS of pubs, like 3-4 pubs per street, way more for long streets. We have a high drinking culture, we're like the only city in Scotland where you can't drink on the streets. We also have like 3 uni's (all close by) and a few colleges so yeah. xD I'm not sure how accurate that is for other places, the places I have been to did have a few but not as much. But we're spoiled for pubs so anywhere I go has few pubs compared. xD

You definitely need to try the UK pubs though. They are amazing and pub lunches are good too.

I actually know where Alexandria is. It's nearish Balloch. I'm finding a lot of people online (who I've encountered online anyways) have Scottish roots.

My Grandfather worked on the ships in Glasgow. Then emigrated to Philidelphia. My sister has been back there, I went to visit the family in Switzerland.
