Handfasting

B and I are having a handfasting ceremony this summer! Just him, Me and Z.
I spent 13 hours braiding and weaving the handfasting rope and planning the colors.

We know vaguely the whole ceremony...since it's just us 3 it's really not super structured (so if anyone has any experience with doing something similar I'd love to hear it!). But, I still have the whole "prewedding jitters" thing. If not more so now than before! An official wedding has structure and rules and expectations. This is just us. If anything, it's what I've always wanted from a wedding.

I'm giddy and nervous and excited.

If you do a search, I have an entire thread on my handfasting ceremony. :)

Today was the daaay! FYI I'm mildly drunk. Excuse any weirdness in the writing.

I wanna say that from start of getting ready to end it took me...2.25 hours. I mean, I looked amazing. My eyebrows alone took like 30 minutes

But frick. When them boys came out of the hotel towards me, Z of course looked fiiine; pretty similar to when we got married. BUt B, I've never seen him so kinda formal and 'cleaned up' OR with dar wash jeans.

He looked so good.

But, back to the better stuff

So, since this was supes informal, we basically hijacked the fancy af bridge here. Like, basically people respected we were using it for like...20 minutes and let us do our do w/o interruption. Blessssss

But Z was willingly our photographer. Amazzzing job my boo. Him adn I are gettin some more pics of him and I tomorrow.

But fuck, B's vows. Like I reread them now and fuckin criiied

Like...the way he looked at me during pictures. During vows. My dudes he loves me soooo much.

LIKE MY DUDES. LOOK AT WHAT HE WROTE

"I take you to be my partner for life, I promise above all else to live in truth with you, and to communicate fully and fearlessly, I give you my hand and my heart as a sanctuary of warmth and peace, and pledge my love, devotion, faith and honor as I join my life to yours. Because of you, I laugh, I smile and I dare to dream more than I ever have. Thank you for the miracle of you. You are, and always will be, the love of my life, my soulmate, my person."

lIKE...WHOA. SO BEAUTIFUL.

NOW I'M CRYING AGAIN

That sounds like a wonderful ceremony, El, especially the vows part. Congratulations! I'm also eager to hear what you wrote (for your vow), if you don't mind sharing.

So happy for you!

Mine were....

"Mawwage again bwings us togeda two day

What we have isn't what could be called conventional, but it is beautiful. Let's be honest, being normal is far too boring.
I could stand here and tell you how much I love you, but those words mean nothing unless they are shown through our actions.

I vow to always try to make you laugh, to always make you see the doctor, to use you as my personal space heater, to be your wingwoman, to be honest and to not let my immense stubbornness get in the way, but most importantly I vow to love you every day, a million times over, not because I have to, but because I want to. Remember, there is no Shepard without Vakarian."

Heh, I like that you injected a little humor into yours. :D Awesome!

Im sooo lucky Z gave me the heads up Bs was much longer and more emotional than my original one so I had time to make it less of a comedy hahaha

Z and I had more lighthearted and shorter ones.

Although B did not tell his mom this was happening so...she found out via a Facebook relationship status change

I can tell she is not happy

Uh oh, did she know you had a relationship with B? Did she know it was a poly arrangement? or is B still in the poly closet so to speak?

Oh she knows about the poly! Just not the marriage

Ohhh. Is she just upset that she wasn't invited?

I think so. But he didn't want his family there because they're...dramatic. so it's his choice

That makes sense. So, she doesn't have to like it, but she should respect it. As those were his wishes, right?

Exactly!

Either way, it was gorgeous and amazing and still kinda surreal

Congratulations! So touching to read this :)

Congrats! Thanks for sharing this special occasion with us :)

I guess if she was a person who could respect his decision, he may have been able to invite her? Not invited cos too dramatic -> Drama! Sigh.
