Poly-Friendly Places to live... I suck at google search. :(

Well, I guess places that are usually gay-friendly tend to also be as close to poly-friendly as you can get, so I'd definitely stick to the major cities. Raleigh, Durham, Asheville, Chapel Hill and Carrboro are the top of "progressive" or "open-minded" areas. I think in a previous post, you...

    Howdy

Welcome to the board. Glad to have you here. I understand some of what you say---our triad started off as a V. Like you, "M" often talked about the "challenges of being the hinge". I think that was part of what gave extra inspiration to me and C to try to make a connection, so as to...

What is the difference between being polyamorous and being commitment-phobic?

Polyamory is not inconsistent with commitment. You're committed to more than one person in polyamory, as opposed to monogamy where you're committed to only one. I'm poly but I am totally committed to my partners.

Looking ahead - St Valentines Day

We will probably act like a couple would. Dinner out someplace nice and romantic...with cards and maybe a small gift for each other. (Not necessarily candy or roses but probably something more useful...a nice new shirt or shoes, etc.) The main issue I think we'll have is that most restaurants...

    needing some advice please

Agree with Charlie. There are times when a relationship needs work to make it survive. This is beyond that....I cannot see a way to fix this mess. From what you describe it is already in traumatic territory.

    MMM poly relationships

Sounds good. I reread your thread and one thing comes to mind. You mention you're prepared to have him move in. But have you first actually had dates with him? Not just as a friend, but you know, romantic dinner dates, that kinda stuff. Make sure it's actually love and not just lust, you...

    East Coast Howdy!

Nothing gay-specific. Like my area, you can visit the local poly group, which seems to be friendly but that's it.

    MMM poly relationships

I'll be happy to answer any questions the best I can. Do note that our triad started a bit differently. We really didn't have a long-term couple plus one scenario, like you're doing. It was more of a guy (M) dating two guys (R and C) off and on simultaneously, and then bringing everyone...

    East Coast Howdy!

Welcome! From my observations, that's pretty typical of many poly communities...mostly straights, a few bi's (especially women but occasionally a guy) and few gay men or lesbians. (But however...they are usually some of the most gay-friendly straights you'll ever meet. :) ) The...

    Pregnancy in a V

Well, polyamory is certainly an option, but it doesn't look like Mark is comfortable sharing Omari with you. Did he know Omari was bisexual from the get-go? Whether he wants to or not, he's going to have to figure if he can live with Omari having this dual-family situation. It sounds to me like...

    Clearing the head

Ironically, I'm best able to clear my mind by first filling it up with things completely unrelated to what's already in there, particularly if it's someplace away from where I normally spend time. For example, recently I spent gorgeous autumn day at the state zoological park. Just watching...

Cheating vs. Polyamory: Merged Threads, General Discussion

Sadly, the gay male community often seems confused that we don't cheat. We'll often get some dude leering at us creepily and say "So you're a threesome eh? That's hot...ever wanna foursome??" Ugh. M will usually wave his ringfinger (we have 3 matching rings) and say "I don't see one of these...

Am I turning into a slut or a pig?

I don't see any reason why you can't enjoy the NRE while it lasts. All relationships (not just poly) are going to go through good times and bad ones. If we don't enjoy the good times when we get them, we'd never have the strength to get through the bad times.

Movies that would have been better with a poly ending.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World. On the blu-ray, there's a "alternative ending" where he chose the other girl instead. I thought "well why not try to get both?" LOL  (Though to be fair, his roomie had true poly adventures, as seen in the bed scene. :D )
