Hi!
High?
No. Even though I live in Colorado! Or rather only in the sense of being like 6,000 feet up, maybe...
I'm here because I was on another forum, about relationships, and found myself talking about my own experiences, and it got to the point where...because my situation is odd and my choices aren't "normal" (*sigh* Whatever that even means anymore) I was having to defend and explain every...little...thing...to people. Stuff like how a poly person can possibly be a good parent for instance. I've got a thick skin when it comes to the internet, but it got tiresome. One day, I realized that the format of discourse there seemed to be "ask for advice, then buckle in and get ready to be roasted" and that it wasn't for me. So I decided to find someplace more appropriate to talk about stuff...which led me here. So here I am!
My marriage to a not-so-functional person ended last year, though we are still in the process of detangling our affairs. We've got 2 teenage kids (good kids, with good grades, and yes, I appreciate how lucky I am!) I am now a roommate in my ex's household, because I'm trying to be compassionate and give him time to get his finances in order so he can keep his house, and MOST of the time it's really not bad. We both went on and dated and it's been a learning experience for both of us. We're trying to part ways as friends. Outside of the house I'm in a poly group with a boyfriend and another married couple, and I also have another lover outside of that group, who has a "friendly acquaintance" level interaction with the others. And yeah...finding time for everybody is a challenge, but they all understand my obligations.
Other than that, I love accounting, cats, GWAR, making art, Douglas Adams, Dr. Who and Game of Thrones, and I am for the most part a happy, chatty extrovert.
