Another Newbie

My boyfriend and I have been together a little over one year. About 6-7 months ago we started discussing polyamory. We have done a lot of reading, a lot of Reddit browsing, and a lot of talking (some of which turned into pretty epic arguments). We had a couple of false starts as well. Where we're at with it right now is that he is welcome to look for other members of the same sex (we are both bi) and I am not looking at all (my decision). I'm hoping to learn some new things here, and maybe move past this lopsidedness we have going on as well.

Greetings roryjo,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

Sometimes poly is harder in the beginning, but then things gradually improve. It sounds like you and your boyfriend have been trying hard to negotiate an arrangement both of you can live with. I hope Polyamory.com can help you with that endeavor, don't hesitate to post any questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

Notes:

There's a *lot* of good info in Golden Nuggets. Have a look!

Please read through the guidelines if you haven't already.

Note: You needn't read every reply to your posts, especially if someone posts in a disagreeable way. Given the size and scope of the site it's hard not to run into the occasional disagreeable person. Please contact the mods if you do (or if you see any spam), and you can block the person if you want.

If you have any questions about the board itself, please private-message a mod and they'll do their best to help.

Welcome aboard!

Hi roryjo - and welcome to the Forum! It sounds like you've had a few ups and downs on your new poly journey, but I do heartily commend you on your research and communication. I found both of those elements to be essential as our marriage transitioned to poly (full story in link below).

We do have a number of experienced poly folks who are generally helpful and friendly, so please do not hesitate to post any specific thoughts or questions that you may have. Both the Poly Relationships Corner and General Poly Discussion sections are quite active.

Best of luck on your continuing journey! Al
