Fresh out of the closet!

Hi everyone!

I'm Cass. I'm 23, living in Calgary AB. I recently came out as pan, and I've kinda gotten into a long distance relationship recently (using "kinda" since we haven't strictly defined it), and we decided to try a open relationship. So far it's been good, and a lot more easygoing than my past relationships. While I tried an open relationship before, it really didn't go well. So I'm looking forward to this working out better.

Just a bit about me: I have a degree in archaeology and greek/roman studies, I'm currently working as a student optician and doing distance learning to get my diploma for that. I have a dog, cat, rabbit, and fish and I adore animals. I love hiking, camping, going out to try new food, and watching crappy paranormal/cryptozoology/ufo documentaries/shows. I do medieval reenactment with the SCA and I do heavy armor combat and leatherworking.

I'm excited to make new friends and learn more about the community! So far, it seems for both the LGBT+ and poly communities in Calgary there are very few people under 30, which is a little discouraging. I don't have a problem dating older, but it's nice to be around people my age with similar interests sometimes!

There are many different types of open relationships. For a laugh, have a look at this humorous venn diagram. For a more serious discussion, you may want to look over here. I mention this because you mention open relationships in your opening post rather than polyamory.

I feel you, I'm 24 1/2, and live in central MN, besides my partners I know no other poly people under 35! Fun fact, though, my first grade teacher is a lesbian, grey-ace, poly.
 
Hi Cass - welcome to the Forum! Greco-Roman Studies sounds incredibly interesting (I studied Latin for a few years) - but can see that jobs in the field might be on the scarce side. Best of luck on your poly journey! Al
