Great new polyamory book (memoir)

Hey everyone,

This is my first time posting, but I’ve been poly for 8 years, and it has been the best 8 years of my life. When I was first starting out, I wished that there were more stories, books, shows, and movies about happy, healthy polyamorous people. It seemed like most books were “how-to” guides, and any stories were about jealousy (and usually the characters returned to monogamy). Fortunately, my longest term partner (Alex Alberto; they/them) is an amazing writer, and they are publishing a memoir called Entwined: Essays on Polyamory and Creating Home. In these essays, Alex attempts to build two committed relationships at once when no one involved has done this before; develops a powerful bond with the woman their partner loves; sits through a tense Thanksgiving Dinner with religious in-laws; questions the need for rules and hierarchy in their relationships; experiences the intensity of a triad; wrestles with the fragility baked into the nuclear family after their father's stroke; and explores their queerness and gender identity in English, in New York, while struggling to reconcile their newfound self in their native French-Canadian language and culture.

They’re even publishing the book in a super “poly” way. Alex and two other authors created Quilted Press, a publishing collective where the authors share in the work, costs, and benefits of publishing their books in “cohorts.” Anyway, I really hope lots of poly people read Entwined, because I honestly think it’s the best representation of poly life/experience I’ve ever read. Pre-orders are open now through early November, and the first edition of paperbacks ships in February (link below). Thanks for reading! Hello Dee2109,

Sounds like a good book. I'm far too slow a reader to commit myself to it, but I did read the HuffPost article and enjoyed it.

Regards,
Kevin T.

Thanks Kevin! I’m glad you enjoyed the article. If you’re on IG, @thatalexalberto and @quiltedpress have videos of Alex reading some of their stories at a live show!
