Hi everyone,

My hubby and I have been married now for 18 years and known each other for 20 years. About 10 years ago, I broached the topic of wanting to have an open marriage. I was shot down very badly for many of the first 8 years of trying. I went from wanting to have a relationship with a girl to wanting a couple. Nothing worked; hubby wanted me just for me. He was very protective of me, wouldn't want me to go out with my friends without him. And, if any guy looked at me, he told me to tell them not to even look at me.

Fast forward: For about 2 year now, we have been trying to live a poly life. At first it was really, really wobbly and scary for him. I immediately had a guy that I really liked and wanted to have a relationship with. We both now have relationships with others and most days it's ok. But that big monster called jealousy rears her face from time to time. And it is NEVER pretty. I will save all the questions and issues for another forum, as directed.

I honestly just need somewhere safe to go and discuss issues and things with others that are experiencing the same life. The same issues. I really, REALLY want a poly life. But I really, REALLY need to increase my confidence, etc. I also don't want others to think that I'm just sleeping around with whoever. I really want another person to have a relationship with. And with guys, it's either a fling or they want to have a relationship with you but they don't get the poly thing.

I'm not sure if this is a good intro or not, but it's what I'm going with!

Greetings BetsySue74,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

Your intro seems fine. It sounds like your husband had quite a struggle getting used to the idea of poly. You mentioned that you are running into some problems with jealousy. Is this you feeling jealous, your husband getting jealous, or both?

I hope we can help you with your struggles.
Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)
