Hi!

Hi, I signed up about a week or two ago, but mostly I lurked. :) So I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name's Michelle. :) I'm a big REM fan (in case you can't tell by my screen name :p) Though I have no idea what their new music sounds like, since I'm still stuck in the 80's and 90's.

I'm a geek, I guess. I like Firefly, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and am about to embark upon a new Dungeons and Dragons campaign with my husband where I get to play a morally ambiguous wizard. :D

My husband's poly, I'm not sure where I fall. I sometimes miss the the NRE feelings of a new relationship, and I still definitely get crushes on others, but I don't really know if I can fall in love with someone in addition to him; I haven't had a chance to find out yet. So for now, I think I fall more to the mono side of things.

Right now, we're closed, so we can work on us and each of our respective issues.

I would also like to say, just lurking in this group has helped me a lot. So thank you! :)

Hello LRP
It seems many poly people are into geekstuff. I also like Star Trek and Doctor Who. I enjoyed Firefly and Serenity as well, but do not understand the following it has built (I think there is also now a comic book based on the series). It's been years since i played D&D, it seems to have exploded in popularity recently. Do you still play in person or online?
I agree with the 80's and 90's music, nothing like it. I still play it when I can.
I hope your adventure into poly is fulfilling, which ever way you go.
Welcome to the sight.

Thanks, drgnfly. Yeah, with Firefly, I admit I didn't expect to like it, since I wasn't a huge fan of Joss Whedon, but I was pleasantly surprised.

My husband and I play D&D in person with a group of friends. There's even an erotic version that can be played, which my husband wants to play with me. (Even our sex life is geeky, hehe.)

Greetings Michelle,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I used to live, eat, sleep, and breathe D&D ... back when I was a youngster ...

You do not have to be a polyamorist; we have some really cool monogamists on the boards, and we like 'em. ;)

Glad you could join us!
Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

Notes:

There's a *lot* of good info in Golden Nuggets. Have a look!

As I'm the one who quotes song lyrics around here...

"She's got pretty persuasion
He's got pretty persuasion
God damn my confusion" -- REM, "Pretty Persuasion"

(Now if that song isn't about being poly....)

Welcome! Always good to have someone here who's also a bit stuck in the 80's and 90's musically. Hope you find what you need here.

I love the idea of a geeky sex life! Our family is fully geek - we do PC based gaming with all the kids regularly. FPS, racing games etc... I think we should introduce them to DND soon too...

BTW, welcome here :) EVen though you joined before me!

Well, now I need to re-listen to that song. :)

I hear ya on the geek family, we're that way, too. We used to play on WoW as a family with our teen, which was fun. Our other 3 kids are a bit too young for WoW, but they already love watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, Doctor Who, and Star Wars. It must be in the genes. :)

W00t! REM has ALWAYS been my favorite band, and I am a fan of their older stuff, for sure. :) Fellow Browncoat here as well. :) Which version of D&D are you playing? My husband DarkKnight and I play 5.0 weekly, and we used to be in a Pathfinder group last year with my other hubby, PunkRockAwesomesauce. I have to say I love 5.0 much more, but that may just be because my character is totes amazeballs. (She's a human druid with a pet Griffon named Hornswaggle - but his real name is Susan. We don't judge his life choices.)

Hello fellow Browncoat! :)

We're playing Pathfinder 3.5 right now, as a matter of fact. :) Hubs and I are doing mock campaigns with each other to help him hone his DM skills and so that I can get more comfortable with my new character. I'm playing a CN Drow Wizard/Alchemist (we're playing gestalt) named Valas, and she has a squirrel familiar named Sparky. :) (BTW, Hornswaggle is an awesome name!)

Right now, we are looking for two more people to join our group before we can start our official campaign, since two members had to drop out due to a family emergency. So I think that may be delayed for a bit.

All three of our kids are huge fans of all the shows you mentioned. They are well versed in the ways of the geek - it's a given with their parentage. LOL

Also, Harry Potter, Marvel and DC Superheroes, and Terry Pratchett (awesome bedtime stories actually). Our youngest walks around imitating Groot and our oldest researches spell almanacs online to teach his brothers. It's great fun having in invent shields to unforgiveable curses (which are now banned at the dinner table!) hehe

I've recently introduced them to Xena as well - awesome show!

They all play Unreal Tournament, Diablo, Team Fortress, Borderlands etc. (and yes, they are totally unsuitable for our youngest, but he loves them and is really good at them too). Of course, the older two are coding in scratch, using Robotics and a bit of Python as well - because what sort of geeks would they be otherwise?
