It's important that we do know about this, though, for it provides much contextual understanding about much which is happening in our world today.

Did you know, for example, that the Police in Chicago (like any police during that time in history) were not created to be in service to the people in general, but rather to serve the new capitalists during the new wage labor capitalism?

We'd perhaps like to think that contemporary police in America are nothing like police in the olden days of policing, but one has only got to watch YouTube videos of how the cops treated protesters at Standing Rock or at various Occupy encampments, etc., to have doubts raised on that idea.
