Managing STDs in an open relationship

Addendum - sorry about the extended HSV tangent (my last post in this thread - for which I should probably find the last HSV thread we had here).

I tend to focus on HSV as it is, in my mind, one of the most important of the STI's to consider in that it is a.) common, b.) incurable, and c.) not particularly preventable with condoms. (Hence the perfect "test case." (HPV would be the other one... IF we ever tested men for it.)

With the exception of HIV, most of the other STI's are curable - gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, trichomonas - get tested regularly, get treated. Done. The danger is if you don't know that you have it and pass it on, or mess up your chances of having kids (if you want them).

HIV is still the main one I am concerned with personally - even though it is relatively rare (here) and harder to contract...hence our "condoms for penetrative sex" rule...
