Hi, I’m freakyfa. *waves awkwardly* I’m a single, straight, 29-year-old female and after much feisty, internal debate over the years I have realized that I most likely inhabit some kind of weird gray area between mono and poly. Truthfully though, I have never acted on my deepest feelings and desires because I’ve always felt that they contradicted my values even though I’m as open and sex-positive as you can get.

Now I’m not a total stranger to alternative expressions of sexuality as I’m pretty well-versed in the world of kink and BDSM. As I’ve said before though, I’ve never truly explored the side of myself that longs for some expression of love and intimacy beyond mono relationships. Honestly, I think I’ve been in denial about what I’ve wanted for a long time and some of that may be due to societal constructs or my own stubbornness. I’m soon to be 30 and I’ve realized that I give zero craps about what others think less and less and that’s why I bit the bullet and joined.

I’m here to learn, grow, self-actualize, and hopefully make new friends and even partners if you’ll have me.

Welcome. Being poly is outside what we have been taught is proper. Denial was part of it for us as well. Once we moved bast that things changes. While I am exclusive with SW and my poly partner, SW is not with hers. Two different ways of poly that work within our marriage..

Thank you! More and more I’m learning that sexuality is one big gray area and I don’t have to fit into anyone’s narrow prescriptions of what is right and proper.

Greetings freakyfa,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I'm glad to have you with us, it sounds like you are in the early stages of considering poly for yourself. I hope you'll post a lot, and let us know if you have any questions. Society in general is not yet ready to accept polyamory, and most of us are conditioned, from childhood on, to view monogamy exclusively as the "right" way to handle romance. It is not easy to switch over to looking at polyamory as a valid way to do things; you are to be commended for taking that leap, and engaging us on this polyamory website. This doesn't mean you will suddenly run off and collect multiple partners, it just means that you realize multiple partners are a valid thing, and if it happens for you, that is okay.

I lived in Metro Detroit for a lot of years, so I feel like we are neighbors even though I don't live there now. I also think it's awesome that you are a flight attendant, I think that's a cool job, and not everyone could land it! I just mean to say, I am super glad to make your acquaintance. I hope you enjoy your stay here!

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)
