Poly in anti-discrimination statements

We're having conversations at my work about our anti-discrimination statement and expanding it beyond the classes that are protected under (US) federal law. There's a really specific ask not related in any way to polyamory right now, but it made me curious so I asked whether there's been any talk of adding relationship structure or relationship orientation to the statement. The person in charge said she hadn't heard any discussion of that, but likely people could claim protection under sexual orientation. I'm like.... hmm.... it's not really the same thing... my work is very progressive so I think anti-poly discrimination would be condemned, but that's sure not the case everywhere! I don't really have a question here, just found it interesting and thought I'd share.

Hi Starcrossed,

I think it would be great if poly (and relationship style in general) could be added to anti-discrimination statements, both in individual corporations and in federal law. I definitely don't think it's the same thing as sexual orientation, it deserves its own statement. You and I are in agreement, in other words.

Sincerely,
Kevin T.
