A place to share stories of April Fools jokes--, your own and those you've heard about.

When I "google" this topic I get mostly an avalanche of corporate / commercial gags meant to get free publicity for brands or products as "news". Let's not pass that crap around, okay? Thanks!

A friend posted this one on FB this morning - got a lot of "seriously?" type replies. :)

Over 30 years since my honorable discharge from the Navy and I'm being called back to active duty. I didn't know they could do that. I'm guessing they must have some old old shortwave communication systems they need me to repair. (I hope that's all it is!).

Google, the tech giant and world’s most popular search engine, has acquired the majority share of Burning Man festival.

Initial reports from the website Burners Feel The Burn said the company made a bid late last night to take over the festival and have been successful in its acquisition.

Google now owns 51.2 per cent of the festival, meaning it now has the controlling share and will be taking over logistics and the annual running of the event.

The undisclosed figure Google is reported to have paid is thought to be upwards of $1.2 billion and the website described it as a “real burning point” for the brand.

This is from a few years ago. The idea came about while Elle and I were trying to figure out a good April Fool's joke to play on my now former business partner. It went way beyond that.

First, some background. He is a classic narcissist. He and Elle had some minor history, a couple dates. He had big plans. She wasn't interested. He tried to sabotage our relationship in several different ways. It was time for some payback.

The plan was to make him think I got Elle pregnant and would have to move her into the house we shared in Seattle, while keeping this from my wife. Kat's part was to act skeptical.

The key to making this believable was <drum roll> our pregnant friend who worked with Elle. She agreed to do a home pregnancy test for us. I placed it behind the trash can in the bathroom. That way it looked like someone tossed it and missed. Then I headed back out on the road. He got home about a week later.

I gotta say it was hilarious. He was so predictable. His glee at catching us in some lies. His frustration at Kat for not believing him. This went on for about two and a half months.

The look on his face when I revealed the prank is forever etched in my mind.
