Exciting Times

Tomorrow my long distance love, RacingSnail, will be arriving for a week long visit. This will be the second time we've seen each other since we got (back)* together, the first time being two days we shared in April.

I'm in such a swirl of emotion! We're in for so much this week--his first chance to spend any significant time with my nesting partner MonkeyMan and my 7.5 year old kiddo; more opportunity to forge and deepen our physical connection; even an opportunity to go on a nice, old-fashioned, out-to-dinner date!

I just wanted a chance to share... and will definitely post an update when the week is out! ;)

*[RacingSnail and I dated before, for a bit over a year, about 12 years ago. So our relationship is a real blend of the familiar and the new!]

Hi sunray,

That sounds like really good news ... I look forward to your update.

Sincerely,

An update on my week, now that I'm sitting quietly at home while my kiddo watches YouTube videos in the background, and MonkeyMan is driving RacingSnail to the airport.

Long distance is hard. Sending my sweetie back to the other side of the country, two time zones away, is hard. And it has been a full, busy, burgeoning week. I have a lot to process. I have a lot to think about. I have a lot of sleep to catch up on. ;)

But poly-wise, things really couldn't have gone better. Everyone got along fine. MonkeyMan was pleased to find that his experience this week matched his expectations, and he didn't feel jealous. As a matter of fact, he was my hero, helping to run interference with the kiddo so RacingSnail and I could manage some couples' time outside of 'during summer school' or 'after bedtime'.

Thursday night dinner of order-in pizza with my two guys and my kiddo and MonkeyMan's best friend and me was kitchen table poly at its finest, and heart-warmed me right down to the toes. (And Friday night's dinner, out on a conventional date with RacingSnail to one of my favorite restaurants, was absolutely fantastic!)

So now it's time to rest, and process, and get back to sending RacingSnail all of the texts and emails again. And it's also time to spend a little extra energy telling stories to my kiddo, and celebrating my relationship with MonkeyMan (tenth wedding anniversary in a week!)... but not time to do the dishes. Because RacingSnail washed them for me before he left. :D

I like that guy. I think I'll keep him. :)

Sounds like the visit went really well. I'm glad to hear that.
