Hello from a Brit in California!

Hi there! I'm a 28 year old British guy who lives in California now and has done for the past nine years. I found this board, oddly enough, while looking up polyamorous LLC/LLP options and found a thread! I thought the board looked interesting so I figured I'd say hello :)

I'm gay; and I was married in a monogamous relationship to a man in SoCal for nearly eight years. For various reasons, that didn't work out. I decided to try and enjoy the single life, until I met a couple who had been looking for a third to join their relationship. Frankly, I was looking for a shag! But feelings developed, and I found myself falling in love and in a very unfamiliar relationship dynamic.

The three of us are trinogamous, I suppose the word would be - there's no hierarchy to the relationship (they aren't the "primary" and I'm not a houseboy or "additional"). I'm not sure what else to say here beyond my relationship status. I work in structural restoration. And I like music, plaing the piano in particular, online video games, Scandal and Game of Thrones. Amongst a lot of other stuff. So, hi!

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!
(I believe Kevin, our "Official Greeter", is away from the internet this week!:p)
I hope you find these forums helpful.

Poly is an "unfamiliar relationship dynamic" for most people, especially at first. However, there are as many ways to "do" poly as there are people doing it - so even long-time poly-folk are often exploring how the dynamics change based on the people involved.

We've had a number of good discussion on how people set up their finances and address things like property, living wills, powers of attorney, life insurance, co-housing, etc. And, of course, things are different depending on which state, or country, you reside.

How long has your triad been together? (Just curious:rolleyes:)

Greetings celuur,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

I'm baaack ... ;)

You must have discovered my very early LLP? LLC? Help thread. And, for what it's worth, I've been following Game of Thrones, the book and the TV series. Once upon a time I used to play the piano quite a lot too. So, that's a few things we have in common!

It sounds like you might be in a triad/triangle configuration? that is, if all three of you are romantically connected with each other. I'm in a V myself ...

It's great to have you with us.
Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

There's a *lot* of good info in Golden Nuggets. Have a look!

Please read through the guidelines if you haven't already.

Please contact the mods if you do (or if you see any spam), and you can block the person if you want.

If you have any questions about the board itself, please private-message a mod and they'll do their best to help.

Welcome aboard!

Hello! I can't believe how late I am in replying; work just got away from me! Thanks for the welcomes guys :)

We've been together now for.. goodness. Nine months, ish. About the beginning of July; I wasn't looking for anything, let alone two of them. Yes, we're in a triangle configuration. It was an absolutely different dynamic; I'm a terrible math nerd so I find it similar to when I went from single-variable to multi-variable calculus. Single variable is nice and easy. Suddenly, just by adding even one variable, you can go off in all sorts of directions! Just gotta find the right formula to cut through the field. {/nerd}.

That is absolutely the thread I discovered! We've been having questions for each other about health insurance, dental, finances - it's been hell just trying to sort everything in Quickbooks! We seem to be quite settled in the triangle, had a lot of stress with moving and the trials and tribbleations that come with changing houses. But it's been good. It's nice to be happy again, even in sometimes unfamiliar territory.

Thanks again for the welcome! I promise I'm not a lurker. And.. once a piano player, always a piano player! It's like riding a stationary, finger-driven bike..

And wow... there sure is a lot to absorb. I decided to do a tag search for triad - the opinions are a tad divided, to say the least.. It's a good thing I have a free evening for reading.

(Fun fact, the national animal of Scotland is a unicorn. So there's that!)

Sounds like things are complex but in a good way. ;)
