Hello from Asia

Hello! I'm a 35 year old poly person living in Asia (bouncing around, mostly Hong Kong), but I grew up in California. I'm currently married and live with my spouse in HK. I also have a long term, long distance partner in a different Asian country, and a comet partner back home I get to see once a year (if I'm lucky).

I met my spouse in CA 8 years ago, and we started out poly. I actually had a therapist who suggested I should explore polyamory, and I met my now spouse at the first meet-up I went to!

We moved to Asia about 5 years ago, and there isn't much of a poly community here. There is a small one and I've met some amazing people, but I'm still feeling like I want more poly community. So I'm here hoping to connect and make poly friends.

Greetings Scotch&Mermaids,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

It sounds like you had a pretty major transition, moving from CA (California? Canada?) to Hong Kong. And I guess now you jump around a lot? That's an exciting life but also sounds exhausting. I thought HK was pretty liberal/progressive so I'm surprised you weren't able to find much of a poly community there. You will definitely be able to meet new friends on Polyamory.com, just spend some time reading and posting on our various boards/threads, and let us know if/whenever you have any questions. It's great to have you with us!

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

Welcome! I'm originally from China and moved to the US 10+ years ago, so kind of an opposite trajectory to yours. I think poly is still a very new thing in most of Asia, but more and more people are getting to know about it in recent years. Like I've seen it discussed more often in Chinese online spaces, and two of my Indian friends said they had friends who were poly (small sample size and skewed demographics, but still). Nice that you're able to find a poly community in Hong Kong, even if it's small.

Hi, I see this was posted a year ago but just wondering if you are still in Hong Kong?
