International move

Hello!
I am in a triad. My partners are married to each other, I am not married. We are considering leaving the USA. I am a nurse practitioner, and it looks like it should be easy for me and our son to go pretty much anywhere I'd want (Canada or New Zeland, namely), but my partners don't have degrees and I'm worried about how I would be able to take them with us.
Has anyone had any experience here?
I had considered bringing one as a partner and then seeing if I could get the second a work visa as a nanny, but I feel very out of my depth.
Thanks!

I think you'd really need to talk to an immigration expert about that, it's a pretty unique situation.

I'm in New Zealand and I'm sure you'd easily get work as a nurse practitioner.

I'm concerned immigration would work against me if I explained it frankly, but I could be overly cautious because of where I'm coming from. 😅

Oh, I wouldn't go talking to the country's immigration department, I'd go to a professional private expert.

Oh! I had no idea those were even a thing! This is why I need assistance. Would I be looking for one in the US or in New Zealand?

Just Google "immigration consultant [country]"

I don't know about NZ but canada has an immigration scheme that includes trades. You can search online for it. I think from talking to someone a few years ago some provinces are easier than others.

Hello ArmeisValdon,

I don't blame you for wanting to leave the USA, things aren't looking too good here right now. I know other countries have strict rules about who can immigrate, I am not an expert on that subject but I just wanted to say that I sympathize with your situation.

Sincerely,
Kevin T.

That's such great news!

My US partner is trying to immigrate here (Aotearoa) too, but his job isn't quite as easy to find work 😔

I'm so glad you got your partners in!
