Hello Poly Folks,

We're excited to introduce ourselves and our new blog, Seven Year Switch (www.sevenyearswitch.net) to the community. We are a relatively straight-edged, suburban couple who dove into polyamory after seven years of marriage.

Our blog documents our adventures along the way, from negotiating safe sex rules to learning the jargon (now I know what "compersion" means!) to explaining to friends and family why it is that we do not feel jealous when our spouse has a hot date with a new lover.

We love to connect with all sorts of folks so we'd love to talk more with all of you!

Well written and engaging blog - thanks for posting. I especially like Jane's caveats.

1. All or most of the statements I make have no actual data or research to back them up. They’re based on my experiences and observations about having an open relationship.
2. I’m not trying to tell anyone to be polyamorous, but I am encouraging the general public to change the way we/they approach sexuality. I’m mostly advocating for everyone to just be more honest about what we want and stop shaming each other for wanting it. Free The Pussy.
3. I’m aware that we’re full of shit for making any claims of wisdom and success about a lifestyle we’ve only been in for nine months. But we hope you might find something useful or interesting from our experiences.

I really like the bits about how you have your finances set up. Ours is not the same but their are similar aspects. The boys have "fun money" set aside that they do not need to account to me for. All three have access to household funds for usual household purchases. Major household purchases have to be agreed upon and I oversee the overall financial picture and long-term planning.
