Let's talk about literature

Hey y'all,

I did a cursory search for a thread here for books or other reading materials (outside of your personal experiences) and couldn't find anything that really stuck out. Searching on google for serious literature on the matter doesn't really yield too many opportunities for in depth reading. I did come up with a few results. I'm curious to see what books this community would recommend on the topic of Poly or ENM.

It's clear to see that some of y'all have been doing your research for a few years now, and I think it's important to pick up at the same places and be able to continue the conversation.

Side note, let's read a book together? If I had to vote....

A Therapist’s Guide to Consensual Nonmonogamy: Polyamory, Swinging, and Open Marriage by Rhea Orion

You mean this thread?

But having a "book club" thread like this one is a great idea. I hope whomever wants to read A Therapist’s Guide to Consensual Nonmonogamy: Polyamory, Swinging, and Open Marriage by Rhea Orion contributes to this thread, as a start.

Hi Bariah,
Here's a list of books I have worth considering:
  • "Opening Up: a guide to creating and sustaining open relationships," by Tristan Taormino.
  • "More than Two: a practical guide to ethical polyamory," by Franklin Veaux and Eve Rickert.
  • "Eight Things I Wish I'd Known about Polyamory (before I tried it and frakked it up)," by Cunning Minx.
  • "The Polyamory Toolkit," by Dan and Dawn Williams.
  • "Stepping Off the Relationship Escalator: uncommon love and life," by Amy Gahran.
  • "The Ethical Slut: a practical guide to polyamory, open relationships and other adventures," by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy.
  • "Sex at Dawn: how we mate, why we stray, and what it means for modern relationships," by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jethá.
  • "Polysecure: attachment, trauma and consensual nonmonogamy," by Jessica Fern.
  • "Polyamory: the new love without limits," by Deborah Anapol.
  • "Love in Abundance: a counselor's guide to open relationships," by Kathy Labriola.
  • "Polyamory: roadmaps for the clueless and hopeful," by Anthony Ravenscroft.
  • "The Monogamy Myth: a personal handbook for recovering from affairs," by Peggy Vaughan.
  • "Open: love, sex, and life in an open marriage," by Jenny Block.
  • "Designer Relationships," by Mark A. Michaels and Patricia Johnson.
  • "The Smart Girl's Guide to Polyamory: everything you need to know about open relationships, nonmonogamy, and alternative love," by Dedeker Winston.
  • "Power Circuits: polyamory in a power dynamic," by Raven Kaldera.
  • "The Polyamorists Next Door: inside multiple-partner relationships and families," by Elisabeth Sheff.
I have read Opening Up, More than Two, the Ethical Slut (first edition), Sex at Dawn, Love without Limits (first edition), and the Polyamorists Next Door. Honestly, I'm probably done reading poly books, I'm not a strong reader and I have a huge backlog. Hopefully the list above gives you some ideas.

Sincerely,
Kevin T.
