Should the title of this thread be "Mods, you might want to help" (including the comma)?
Nope, I didn't pause when I said it.Should the title of this thread be "Mods, you might want to help" (including the comma)?
So there are mods you (or others) might want to help? (That's honestly how I read the thread title, and I wondered what in the world the thread could be about.)Nope, I didn't pause when I said it.
They better have a great thread after all this!I have pm'd the reddit user, via reddit. I'll see if I get a reply.

You are correct. There should be a comma after "mods". It's called the "vocative" comma and it's used when addressing someone directly to distinguish between the OP's intended meaning and the meaning described above. So there are mods you (or others) might want to help? (That's honestly how I read the thread title, and I wondered what in the world the thread could be about.)
That doesn't matter. The proper way to express this idea in writing is *with* the comma (see my post above).Nope, I didn't pause when I said it.
Thanks, Maid of All Work. Yes, see, for example, https://www.masterclass.com/articles/vocative-comma-guide.That doesn't matter. The proper way to express this idea in writing is *with* the comma (see my post above).

It wasn't "grammar Nazi stuff". (That's a fairly strong accusation.) You wrote "You never know why someone might be making them." But I explained why I made the comment I made:I'm really not into grammar Nazi stuff. The thread served its purpose within seconds of making it.
I kind of think pointing out grammatical errors in readable text is a pretty big social faux pas these days. You never know why someone might be making them. And it's only ever one demographic who finds great pleasure in highlighting it
