Hey polyamory.org. I've just discovered the site. I started thinking of myself as poly 1.5 to 2 years ago, though I've never been terribly monogamous. Considering the company I've kept, I should have taken on the poly designation a lot earlier. The dedication to maturity, responsibility, and honest communication that characterizes the poly community at its best is a beautiful ideal to try to live up to and I'm happy to take part in it, though I'm currently single.
To give a little background, I've had non-monogamous friends and partners ever since high school, but it's only in my latest romantic involvement that I really embraced polyamory as a lifestyle. I found myself face to face with my girlfriend's other boyfriend and was just fine with it, and when she told me about the complimentary roles we played for her, I was pleased that she could enjoy us both. We've since amiably split, but monogamy (in any obligate sense) is hard to think of now.
I just found out about this forum tonight (or this morning), but I look forward to communicating with other poly people.
