Hi, I am Brian. I live in Ventura County California which is about an hour north from Los Angeles. I have been thinking about the lifestyle for quite a while and since talking to a poly friend the other day I have decided to take the next step on my journey.

What do you view your "next step" as being? Reading and learning about how others practice "poly"? Well, then, you are in the right place!

There are as many ways to "do" poly as there are people "doing it". What is your current relationship status? How do you envision your "poly" life?

I think the next step for me is learning what others have gone through and trying to find others like me.

I am a single bi male and what I imagine that I would like is to find both a man and a woman (or more).

What do you mean by "the lifestyle?" Polyamory is simply the practice of having more than one loving relationship at a time, with everyone's knowledge. There is no one particular type of lifestyle that is considered poly; a person can have multiple relationships in whatever lifestyle they choose.

I think that swingers use the term "The Lifestyle" to mean swinging, but it is not applicable to poly. See: What is this "lifestyle" you mention?

What kind of lifestyle do you lead and how do you see yourself incorporating polyamory into it?

Welcome! You live in an area that seems like it might have a fairly large and active poly community. Have you checked into meetups and local Facebook pages? Sometimes, it's really helpful to meet people who are poly to see what life looks like, as well as to find like-minded folks you can chat about things with (plus, dating!).

Let us know how your journey goes!
