Hi there,

Last year I got out of a 12 year mono relationship (7 of those years married - ugh) to an emotionally unavailable guy. I went through a several month phase of sleeping with lots and lots of younger men and one woman, eventually entering into a poly relationship with a woman. There are some things about this person I'm going to leave out for privacy reasons, but she has a primary partner (a boyfriend) and she has me.

I'm going to save my questions for the question forum, but basically that's my situation. Oh and I'm 20 years older than she is...haha minor detail!

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!

Feel free to share as much (or as little) of your story as you like or feel comfortable with. In my blog I leave out details that would ID me to people that don't know me very well but if one of the participants in my non-drama would read it they would recognize the story as being mine - which is OK with me (anyone who could recognize me from the story would have to know most of the story already).

It seems like you have gone through a period of introspection and "finding yourself" after getting out of a relationship that wasn't happy/fulfilling for you. Good for you! It takes guts to break out of our "molds" and actively decide what we want to do now.

The poly roller-coaster can be an exciting (but, for some, exhausting) ride - but, like all journeys, the process can be rewarding regardless of the destination. Please, feel free to read of the experiences of others on the road and ask questions along the way. Your journey is unique but there are many travelers.

Nice to meet you.:)

Greetings BostonKitty,
Welcome to our forum.

Sounds like a pretty unhappy marriage. It seems good that you got out of there. It isn't easy to change a life and/or paradigm that you've invested a lot in, and even if you're unhappy, you can be "comfortable" that way. So good for you for tackling some very challenging changes.

It seems like you're a lot happier now, and that's good to hear. Hope you'll have a look around our site, and post any questions you may have.

Glad to meet you!
Sincerely,
Kevin T.
