I ended up changing my flight time to Auckland because of Iris staying on longer than her original departure date due to arriving later than planned. And now the weather forecasts are predicting a really, really bad storm due when I was originally going to fly. I'm really beginning to deeply trust that everything happens for a reason. I was going to be delayed anyway. This isn't the first time that a delay has worked out for the best.
One day of the school term to go, whew! I came home with good intentions to mark some tests that were done today. I drank wine and chatted with Adam instead. It's been a while since we've relaxed together. We've grown distant; there's been some strife this year to do with him avoiding earning income, which has made life a little harder, and when I called him out on an outright lie one morning, I got home to apology flowers because, simply, he was in the wrong. But fingers crossed that he'll start a new job in August. The final round of interviews/assessment was completed yesterday.
I've turned a corner on the burnout and feel more able to do my job again. In saying that, on a whim, I asked a contact to refer to me to someone in his organisation I could talk with about creating a new opportunity, but I got an out-of-office autoreply, so I wait. I'm getting good at waiting lol.
In other news, I was on facebook earlier and there was a story about a teacher abusing his power over a student and, in the comments, another teacher was commenting upon the student's "role" in the situation as if she wasn't a victim. The chairman of the commenter's school board now has a fairly full inbox as I DM'd a couple of the other horrified commenters and they confirmed they had also sent screenshots.
