What’s it called when someone is your metamour’s metamour?

No real question, just wanted to share. I met someone at an event this evening and found out later that she is one of Ginger’s spouse’s partners. So that means that Ginger is my metamour and her metamour. I thought it was super funny — what a small world.

Hi MsEmotional,

I don't know if there is any specific name for such a person or connection. Most in the poly community seem to refer to these "extended" metamour type relationships as members of one's wider "poly network" or "polycule".

Obviously this situation doesn't arise if a person is involved in a "closed" network, such as a polyfidelitous triad or quad, but potentially, the network/polycule can be vast, even unlimited, in theory at least.

On reddit someone asked this and i offered "metamour-in-law", but that carries implications of marriage or cohabitation, so YMMV.

Meta-metamour?

My metamour's metamour could be be me...lol.

In my flavor of poly a meta's meta is too far removed to have any significance.

One would think that, but having a meta whose other partner just got dumped and is treating her(my meta) badly because of it has a surprising amount of impact on my partner and in turn me...

IME, more-common factors would be co-workers, bosses, & relatives, yet I can't think of a summary term for those people.

My lover's lover might be a friend or acquaintance or co-worker, or somehow else connected to me. As well, such a person might be a vague shadow, a cipher, or largely nonexistent, for instance if there's an LDR here somewhere. I can't see where wrapping them ALL into one box makes any sense. For instance, when my California lover was going through a breakup, I got a few 3 a.m. calls (back in the day of actual landline telephones with ringers all over the damn house that wake everyone up) so, though we were together maybe a couple times a year, her "impact" in that phase was larger than that of my lover who lived four blocks away & is pretty low-maintenance with any personal problems.

I just ran across a word for this in a blog writing earlier today, thought to myself, "huh...that's a new one to me."

Telemour.

So I guess that's a thing. At least for some random blogger somewhere. *shrug*
