Polyamory is kinda a new thing to me so I wanted to just get general advice for trying this new thing. I’ve been single for a little bit now and this kinda started working its way to me so I just wanted to get anything anyone was willing to share

Have you had a look through the links in the pinned post in Golden Nuggets?
Since you're single, when you start dating people, just be straight up about wanting non-monogamy. Only keep dating those who are okay with that.

You can read of my poly story in my blog, mainly just read the first two posts as the thread is quite long. You might get some ideas from my experience. The book "Opening Up," by Tristan Taormino, is also quite good.
