The best thing you can do is read read read. Then communicate about your feelings and desires. I would recommend reading the book Opening Up, for starters. It covers all the basics of creating and sustaining healthy polyamory.

Greetings bigmac,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

You are in the early stages of trying/contemplating open/poly. There is a lot to be learned about this topic, so spend some time reading and posting here. Opening Up (by Tristan Taormino) is an excellent book; I recommend you read it before venturing out into the open/poly world.

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)
