I highly recommend Opening Up, it is a book by Tristan Taormino. Also I encourage you to read and post a lot on this forum, there is so much you can learn here. As for tips on how to do poly, the most important thing (after consent) is communication. Watch out for assumptions, they will bite you in the butt. Always get and give confirmation.

Are there any specific issues you were wondering about?
How did you and your partner decide to open up?
How long have you been together?
What is your polyamory experience so far, if anything?
Search for local community (a poly group, non-monogamous friends if you've got any, also kink if that's your thing) and talk to people, watch their interactions etc., don't date yet, just hang around. This can do volumes for deconstructing the one true way on monogamy.
