What do I call other partners

Confused child

Okay so I’m the adult child of a poly couple. They didn’t come out as poly until after I was an adult but thing moved quickly afterward. They are in a very serious poly relationship with a women. They have her living with them with her 2 small children. Now she’s been apart of me and my siblings lives since I (youngest) turned 18 I’m now getting married and she’s been part of planning, she’s helped finacially but at a lose at what to call her for the programs obviously my parents are parents of the bride but we want to honor her as part of my life but are unsure how. Any advice is welcome

What do you call her on the printed programs? That would depend on if your parents are "out" to all your wedding guests.

What do you call her yourself, or think of her as, her role in your life?

It’s not a secret anymore they said the reason they weren’t out when we where young was to make sure we got to live normal happy childhoods. They post on Facebook with her all the time all holidays are spent together. So that’s not a problem.

as far as me I’ve been still figuring that out over the past few years. Her kids call me their sister and call my parents and dad but I’ve never been sure on my relationship to them.

I've always just called her by her name

my issue with going with mama is that I call the mom that raised me mom but I call my bio mom who died when I was very young mama when I refer to her. So the mom road just doesn’t feel right to me.

What do you have so far on it? And what style or tone? Formal or informal? What's her role in the ceremony?

Do you even want to list the wedding party people on it or do you want to just have it be a plainer order of service? (Some put none where some go out to grandparents.) You could go with "groom's family" and "bride's family" and list the names if you are used to calling her by name.

Here's a bunch of examples.

Hello Confused child,

A few ideas are, "adopted family," "friend," "close friend," and "friend of the family." There's, "partner of the parents of the bride," but that's a little long-winded.

I guess just try on a few titles until you hit one that feels right. Follow your heart.

Sincerely,
Kevin T.

For what it is worth my Mother introduces my gf as "adopted family" to her friends... I use the term "dear friend" if I am giving her a title to people I am not out to. For people that we are out to she's "partner" or "girlfriend".
