Hey, I’m Edward. Just joined Polyamory.com to meet like-minded people and chat about polyamory. I’m also really into BDSM and love sharing what I know with anyone curious to learn or explore it safely.

Greetings Edward,
Welcome to our forum. Please feel free to lurk, browse, etc.

Glad to have you with us, you sound like a fun and interesting person, I think you'll find like-minded people here, and can chat about polyamory. We do have quite a few members into BDSM, so you'll be able to chat about that as well. Just keep reading and posting, and let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Kevin T., "official greeter" :)

Notes:

There's a *lot* of good info in Golden Nuggets. Have a look!

Please read through the guidelines if you haven't already.

Note: You needn't read every reply to your posts, especially if someone posts in a disagreeable way. Given the size and scope of the site it's hard not to run into the occasional disagreeable person. Please contact the mods if you do (or if you see any spam), and you can block the person if you want.

If you have any questions about the board itself, please private-message a mod and they'll do their best to help.

Welcome aboard!

Thank you, Kevin! I appreciate the warm welcome. I’ll make sure to check out the Golden Nuggets and follow the guidelines. Looking forward to participating and connecting with like-minded members.

I have a question: Many BDSM members seem to have issues finding gear, understanding safe play, or learning how to practice BDSM safely. Can I guide them using articles, videos, links, and brand websites? I just want to make sure this is okay and won’t get me blocked.

Hi Edward

Evie here, I'm a moderator so I pretty much read or at least skim every post. I haven't recently seen the posts with the issues you're discussing, so please do check you haven't found an old post and are attempting to reply to someone who hasn't been online for years and years. They may have even still have email notifications on and will get your reply BUT have changed circumstances and it is not welcome. Don't be the guy who accidentally pokes the hornet's nest.

When people arrive here looking specifically for fetish connections or local kink events to meet people, we send them to FetLife. A lot of us are members there, too and practice varying levels of BDSM ourselves. We want to keep this place focused on polyamory, though.

Blogs are the place that people may be more explicit about their experiences with kink, and there's be the odd thread in General Poly Discussions about kink (which you are welcome to resurrect if you have something new to add).

If it's relevant to a thread, you're welcome to post links to informational articles or videos (e.g. YouTube), including in Poly Relationships Corner, but because that's the advice forum, we like to keep it to fairly recent discussions for reasons indicated above.

Affiliate marketing is a no-no.
As is linking to R18 videos. If you get your correspondent's okay, you can do that using our DM function, though.

And I'll say it once more for the people in the back who are following along...the public areas of this site are primarily for polyamory discussions and issues.

Hope that helps.

Evie

Hi Evie,
Thanks for explaining! I understand that this forum is mainly for polyamory discussions, not kink or adult content. I’ll make sure to follow the rules and post relevant, recent content only.
For example, if someone has a question about finding Bondage Gear, I could share an informational article like this one for guidance: https://thegreentanners.com/blog/top-bondage-gear-picks-for-you/. Since it’s just information, it wouldn’t be considered spam.

You're good because this is your thread, but I don't want to see you touting this on every post that makes a mention of latex or bondage, deal? Then it would become spam.

Got it, I’ll only share links in my own thread and avoid posting them everywhere.

Those are some interesting tattoos you have there! They resemble work from my side of the world. Have you been down here (New Zealand and the Pacific Islands?) or is your tattoo artist from down here?

Haha 😂, nope! I just got it done randomly by an artist in London—I have no idea which country they were from!

So they didn't tell you anything about the symbolism in the designs? Oof. Sounds like you need a trip down here to come find out lol.

lol, nope, they didn’t say anything! Looks like I’ll have to find out myself someday 😄 By the way, which country are you from? I'm from uk...

Aotearoa New Zealand.

If you wanted to start a blog about how you combine BDSM and polyamory, I'd read it, especially pertaining to how subs or slaves deal with all serving the same polyamorous Master, for example.

Thanks for the interest! It’s definitely an in-depth topic, and people experience those dynamics very differently. Maybe someday I’ll write about it, but for now I’m just taking things step by step.
